Recommendation: Favorite/Popular "Little Basket Dumpling" Restaurant
Review
Din Tai Fung is an extremely popular bamboo basket dumpling restaurant with locations outside of Taiwan. It would rank in the top 3 must-eat restaurants when visiting Taiwan, and not without good reason. The difference in their dumplings skin and quality of their fillings set them apart from their competitors. Their intricate and delicate culinary craft allows them to provide their unique and top-notch renditions of fairly commonplace Chinese dishes. You will not regret giving Din Tai Fung a try.

Recommendation: Upscale Traditional Taiwanese Restaurant
Review
Shin Yeh is a popular upscale Taiwanese Restaurant offering premium traditional Taiwanese fare in a comfortable surrounding with speedy service. Most of the dishes are around 400 NT, so you can probably get by with 600 NT per person. There are three other locations with the best one supposedly being the original location. The location in the East District is really packed and if you go without a reservation you will probably need to wait about 40 minutes until you can get a table, so call ahead to shorten your wait. If you want to try out this highly rated, high quality Taiwanese fare at a more traditional Taiwanese setting, pay Shin Yeh a visit.

Recommendation: Youthful Taiwanese Cuisine with Excellent Service
Review
Shin Yeh is a very well known restaurant that started out as an 11 table restaurant in northern Taipei, which then branched out into several locations and opened other types of restaurants such as Curry Champ and a Japanese Buffet. Onion Flower is a restaurant opened under the Shin Yeh brand that brings Taiwanese Cuisine to the public in a very vibrant and youthful way. Their food owns the well known quality and taste Shin Yeh has to offer, but also is given a more modern twist and eccentric naming. What impressed me the most about this place is that their service staff was very attentive to us and detail oriented. The price is around 500 a person for a extremely filling meal. Great Taiwanese food combined with modern Chinese dining space and excellent service is a recipe for a satisfying and enjoyable meal.

Recommendation: Overpriced pseudofrench Restaurant with good crepes.
Review
The East District in Taipei is a bustling area filled with a variety of restaurants. Butter is a "French?" restaurant that is very new to the scene. It is located at the old Akasaka Ramen location, which is right next to the Zhong Xiao Hi Sushi. I realized its existence from my visit to Hi Sushi last week and vowed that I will return and try this place out soon. Butters is more like a pan-european cafe that offers a plated entrees, wide variety of spagetti dishes, baked rice, and crepes. They are quite pricey for the quality of items that you get. However, I do recommend a visit for a some crepes over a cup of coffee.

Recommendation: Classy Kaiten Sushi
Review
Hi Sushi is a classy kaiten sushi chain that offers good quality sushi, sashimi, and grilled items at a upper-mid level price range. Many items rotate around the track at varying prices, and you can either pick them up from the track or you can order some items directly from the chef. The food quality, decor, and service at Hi Sushi is much higher than the popular low-price kaiten sushi chain Sushi Express. If Sushi Express is the Mcdonalds of kaiten sushi, then Hi Sushi can be considered as The Counter. Since the items range in price, it is not easy to gauge the spending. However, I don't think you can be full without spending around 500 NT here. Visit Hi Sushi for a fast, quality, and comfortable kaiten sushi experience.

Recommendation: Quality pastas with reasonable pricing
Review
Go Go Pasta is a cozy little pasta shop nestled in the busy East District in Taipei. They serve pizzas and quality pastas in their modern wooden dining space. In comparison to the myriad of spagetti shacks and fancy Italian restaurants, this place sits in the upper middle of portion of the spectrum. They have three sauces for their pastas: olive oil, marinara, and pesto. You can order different ingredients that to mix into your pasta, and each plate won't cost more than 200 NT. For an additional 100 NT, you can add 3 items to your meal: a drink, a bowl of soup, and a dessert. A set meal of slightly higher than average quality for this price at such a comfortable dining space is definitely money well spent.
