Review

Oola Mexican Grill is a "Mexican" restaurant nestled in the alleyways nearby the Far Eastern Movie Theatre in Gong Guan. The prices are around 200 NT for each entree, and you can get chips and a drink for an additional 59 NT. They have their own versions of the fajita, burrito, and the taco there, but don't expect anything authentic. They cater their flavors to the "Taiwanese Taste Bud," but sadly there probably aren't that many Taiwanese customers. Not a very good place to satiate that craving for food truck burritos and tacos.

The decor and service of the place were standard small scale restaurant quality. They have a huge cactus wearing a sombrero, which is a plus. They have the meter long burrito challenge, which would be pretty hard to complete given the taste of their burrito is pretty bad. The servers were very cordial and attentive, but nothing out of the ordinary.

The burrito was wrapped with pretty horrible ingredients. It's a surprise that this place is still up and running. They should be out of business soon, since their food is pretty odd. Maybe I'm just not used to the bland, mild, and largely unoily burrito that caters to the "Taiwanese Taste Bud." I used the "medium spicy salsa mixed with the "pico de gallo", but I really didn't taste the flavor of their salsa at all. It's sad when I can create a dish better than the an establishment, which makes me think that I can probably pwn with a night market taco stand. The burrito is filled with this vinegary rice cooked with something like cilantro, choice of meat, sauce, and additional toppings. I chose corn bits and guacamole (additonal 50 NT). Those extra items only slightly improved the burrito, but it was cold, tasteless, and did not have that layer of grease in it. Decent Mexican food is hard to find nearby NTU. This is too expensive for what you get.
